Core messages

Memberships support the work of the Slow Food movement by centering justice and celebrating joy in our foodways for good, clean and fair food for all. Our mantra for the latter half of the year is change, grow, flow. We advance our work by mobilizing our members to act.

  • We are weavers. Slow Food USA is a driving force to connect the many hands that touch our food, and reject the industrialized segmentation of our food web.
  • We are builders. Join us in fostering solidarity and cultivating relationships that help communities realize their food sovereignty goals.
  • We are storytellers. We tell stories of food, people and places that inspire curiosity, compassion and collective action.
  • We are disruptors. Our network inspires bold action to break down social and political barriers to good food access.

The Slow Food movement in the US focuses on five core areas of impact: Embracing racial equity and justice, nourishing cultural and biological diversity, increasing access to food and nutrition, mobilizing people and communities, and advancing policies that transform food systems.

  • We need to grow our individual memberships and increase our new business memberships to bring new ideas and lived experiences to the table to achieve justice and equity in this changing world.
  • Membership dollars fuel our 80 volunteer led chapters! Your membership helps local Slow Food teams continue to do the great work of building connections and connecting foodways across the continent.

Let’s nourish our connections and connect our foodways together. Become a member of Slow Food USA!

What does my membership pay for?
The Slow Food USA network of more than 80 local chapters cannot exist without support from our members! Here’s where your dollars go:

    • Engagement with our earth and heritage plants through our Plant a Seed program, which gives hundreds of free growing kits to schools across the US
    • Robust learning and growth with our national network around racial equity and justice through trainings, office hours, national book discussions and more
    • Support for the USA’s Ark of Taste, which identifies and preserves the stories and legacies of Indigenous and other important foods
    • News and storytelling content that amplifies a diverse array of voices and ideas from across the Slow Food movement
    • Administrative support for the complex needs of 80 volunteer-led chapters in the US, so that their initiatives and partnerships can thrive
    • Maintaining a small but mighty team of Slow Food USA employees, who lead and support these local, national and international efforts

If your chapter is participating in our revenue share program, mention to your audience that their membership dollars will directly benefit the work your chapter is doing.
